Tom Yates is a recording singer-songwriter based in London. He writes songs with intelligent lyrics, often drawing on literary influences, matched by strong melodies.

His new album solo, released in april 2011, is, as the name suggests, a solo effort, recorded at home and with highly personal songs, most of which were written around 2007. The album is available on CD and on iTunes.

Tom's second album the pedalling tom yates was released in 2005 and is available on CD. It is a beguiling collection of eleven mostly gentle songs dealing thoughtfully with some challenging themes.

Tom's debut album empty mirror (2002) demonstrated some of Tom's influences like rock'n'roll and Dylanesque folk-rock, and is still available for download.

Tom lives in Rotherhithe, London. He has performed with bands in London and Brighton such as I Thalamus and Sparker, and in a jazz duo (Tom & Berry). He is also principal cellist of EC4 Music orchestra.
